This week we will be... Math: wrapping up Unit 2! Please make sure your child is studying for their test on Wednesday! It will cover place value, multiplication, and division. Reading: questioning expository texts. We will be reading over our National Geographic and using our strategy of questioning to better understand what we are reading. Writing: working on our rough drafts for our expository text page on a topic of our choosing. Science: wrapping up our unit on force and motion! Make sure your child is studying for their test on Thursday! The review guide is posted below. Social Studies: learning about the Eastern Woodland Indians and discuss how they survived using their environment. Our test will be sometime next week! Math - how to multiply 3-digit by 2-digit numbers and begin working on simple division Reading - how to identify text features of expository texts Writing - how to being our informative writing pieces Science - how to take our knowledge about force and motion and apply it into building a model car Social Studies - about how the Southwest Indians were able to survive with little water in their region Homework: Tuesday - HomeLink 2-8 Wednesday - Multiplication Worksheet Thursday - HomeLink 2-9 Reading log also must be completed 5 nights a week for 30 minutes!! Friday will be our Halloween celebration! Students may wear the appropriate costumes to school! The parade will be at 1:30 with an in class party following. This week we will be learning... Math: how to multiply using the U.S. Traditional method. We will begin with 2-digit by 1-digit and work our ways to bigger numbers as the week goes one! Reading: what makes a book an expository text, and what text features we notice compared to narrative stories. Writing: how to edit and revise our narrative stories to prepare for publishing! Science: how speed, velocity, and acceleration all effect motion Social Studies: how the Native Americans of the Pacific Coast used their land and surroundings to survive. Make sure your child is completing their Reading Log by Monday as well!! Your child may wear Dolphin spirit colors (teal and orange) with jeans on Friday to show their school spirit! Next week will be our Halloween parade/party on Friday. Please make sure your child is reading AT LEAST 5 nights a week for 30 minutes!!
